But if you look lately, there's a lot more google and bling searches that put the forum closer to the top.

So more publicity brings more spammers. Wonderful.

I've gotten 3 e-bot notices for this thread and there's been nothing here.
Are we dealing with ghosts on top of spambots? :?

Part of it is that Ken, Noble and I delete them, but not until after you get your notice.

I banned the bot. It was one of the smarter infiltrators, and if it was a real person, which I doubt, then sadly, really bad timing and a bad place to post from considering where all the spambots have been coming from....

Of course it does. A spammer's goal is to get you to click on the link they're spamming, because even if you do nothing beyond that, they make money on the link click. Worse, if they've gone deeper, then the link they're spamming doesn't actually make them money it quietly puts malware on your computer that does all sorts of things (including making your computer a in the background spambot zombie).

For example: The Koobface facebook spambot, was actually a malware link that did two things. It made you spread the spambot, and it inserted malware that loaded a windowless webbrowser in the background on the infected computer that repeatedly "clicked" on a pay-per-click add. The people who created the spambot were the ones who got paid the penny/click. Before they were exposed (not caught btw) they gathered over 2 million USD.
